A move southward now sees the Heuvels organic chickens checking out their new surroundings in the deep south.  

The farm is part of a very successful food processing business, Heuvels. They specialise in Certified organic table chickens, which is certified by Agriquality.  (Our number is NZ0106) Heuvels have developed a unique product in New Zealand and are the largest supplier of organic chicken meat to the New Zealand market place.

Heuvels have been operating since 1999 and what started as a family based business now employs 13 staff members. It is the attraction of the high quality fertile land, the excellent weather conditions and the location that keeps us dedicated to producing quality chickens. The most important part of this business is that the chickens are able to get access to roam free and with the development of the mobile houses, the chickens spend all day on the open pasture and then at night are back into the safety of their homes.

Consumers must fully understand there is a difference between Heuvels Certified Organic chickens to corn fed, free range products available in the market.  Heuvels chickens are fed a certified diet, range outside daily and are not processed using a super chlorinated waterbath.

Heuvels have targeted its client base to butcheries, organic food outlets and supermarkets. Delivering product into the main cities Kerikeri, Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin,Queenstown, Invercargill. We aim to provide a lot more product into the hospitality and restaurant trades as the awareness for certified organic poultry grows.

Heuvels have a selected range of high quality products, from whole birds, skinless boneless breast, to free flow frozen 1kg packs. Once again identifying another niche market, we want to provide products into select cultural communities who have specialised dietary requirements.

Heuvels know their chickens get the best growing conditions possible and  that they are more flavoursome and tender than your standard product. The farming operation is more friendlier to the chickens and for the environment and that they are in turn more healthier for the consumer.

Heuvels see huge potential for their chicken products into the Asian markets. This will ensure Heuvels expansion of the facilities and farming operation into the future.
